Education:
- Dr. Barak Rosenzweig studied medicine at the Sackler Faculty of Medicine at Tel Aviv University
- In 2007, he began his residency in urology at the Haim Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer, and was later selected for the hospital’s Talpiot Distinguished Medical Leadership Program.
- He completed a super-residency in urological oncology at the leading cancer hospital in New York – Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC), where he worked with the best surgeons in the world and was personally trained by the institution’s leading robotic surgeon, Dr. Jonathan Coleman.
Upon his return to Israel, Dr. Rosenzweig started his work as a senior surgeon at the Haim Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer. As part of his work at the hospital, Dr. Rosenzweig performs complex oncological surgeries using a robotic/laparoscopic and open approach and has led a large number of the most difficult and complex surgeries performed in the urology department.
Dr. Rosenzweig, in collaboration with Dr. Orit Portnoy (Radiology), leads the topic of prostate biopsies using a method considered to be the most accurate (In-Bore MRI guided Prostate Biopsy) and has published important articles in this context in leading professional journals.
He initiated and established in Tel Hashomer, together with Prof. Eitan Friedman (Genetics), a dedicated screening clinic for men at high risk of prostate cancer – these men are carriers of a gene called BRCA, which to this day has been linked to an increased risk of cancer in women. It is now clear that there is a link between the BRCA gene and an increased risk of cancer in men, especially prostate cancer.
Dr. Rosenzweig is a lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine at Tel Aviv University and one of the founders of the teaching authority at Tel Hashomer Hospital.
Born in Jerusalem and attended high school near the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Served as a soldier and commander in an elite unit. Married and father of three kids.
